Review
More than 330 participants discussed current developments in exhaust gas technology at the 5th International Forum on Exhaust and Particulate Emissions 2008 organized by AVL Deutschland GmbH.
On February 19th and 20th 2008, AVL Deutschland GmbH staged a 5th international symposium at the Schlosspark Forum in Ludwigsburg, covering the topic of exhaust and particulate emissions with particular focus on the areas of legislation, exhaust after-treatment systems and future exhaust gas instrumentation.
The 5th International Forum on Exhaust and Particulate Emissions was once again a complete success as far as the participants and exhibitors were concerned. The event was conceived as a high-level convention for development engineers from the engine, supplier and instrumentation industry sectors along with academic researchers.
Against a background of ever more stringent emission regulations worldwide, accompanied by the increasing importance of CO2 emissions, discussions revolved around efficient strategies for reduction. In addition, clean air measures relating to particulate pollution and European NO2 guidelines applicable from 2010 were also taken into consideration.
Alongside concepts for diesel vehicles, particular interest was paid in measures applied to stratified charge spark ignition engines, hybrid drives and alternative fuel usage.
The exciting program was rounded off by presentations on instrumentation trends, the state of the art in sensors and computational simulation.
Alongside contributors from a wide range of universities there were well-known presenters from international companies including DaimlerChrysler, Renault, FIAT, MAN, Bosch, Cummins, Umicore and others. More than 330 participants from more than 100 international companies paid close attention to the latest concepts and developments in the field of exhaust instrumentation.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank you once again for the extremely interesting contributions and fascinating questions from the floor, and we look forward to greeting you at the 6th International Forum on Exhaust and Particulate Emissions on March 9th and 10th, 2010.
